Lately I have found myself exploring some art pieces I find on DA with a little more depth than a single short word sketch. Once an idea develops beyond a quick sketch and into something with a definite narrative flow, I have to name it and put it into its own box. This week I'll be including a few of those poems in my journal, and likely in the future there will be more of them as I get better at exploring such things.
For the most part there is no specific topic represented here, although the mood is much more positive than usual. I will say that I have become interested in writing for children... I have a few collaborations in process to that end, and I have featured a few whimsical pieces below along with some pieces that are a bit more "romantic".
Comments on the artwork should be directed to the original artists As always THANK YOU to all the artists that share their hard work here on DA for me to draw inspiration from!
What is a "Thought Sketch"?
It is simply a short concise poem that conveys a single mood or idea. It is usually inspired by artwork, and can be either taken as stand alone work or in tangent with the artwork it complements. It can also be a starting point for more complex ideas.
You will want to view this Journal full screen to get the proper layout.

I like the whimsical nature of this dream, although I was uncertain about the object being
carried by the rabbit. This was a situation when the apparent seriousness of the scene
turns very silly. That's a problem I have

This image gives me the impression that a whole lot had happened to these two characters
during a full day of misadventure, and it reminded me of those reflective winnie-the-pooh scenes.
I feel like this image alone could inspire an entire book series. Very impressive.

This artist has so many wonderful illustrations! This was another opportunity for me to practice
writing something for children, and presented a mysterious ghostly wolf.

This is a beautiful watercolor. I felt like the blank space could have a short poem
about love or some-such, then this would appear on the card rack at Rite Aid. I
actually wrote this poem in the comment section of the image, then later
wrote it down as a thought sketch so I could draw attention to the artist.

This image has an interesting story. This is from the artist:
"In the ancient legend a beautiful goddess has be imprisoned in the moon until the end of her life."
I was intrigued by that idea and wrote this poem about enduring long loneliness.
Art by >>> RuanJia
The colors, weather, and setting feel like a whirlwind romance, or even a couple rekindling
something that had become stale. I shot for the latter in honor of my wife and our weekly
"date nights".

Stolen Artwork? Please read.
Hey folks. I was recently made aware of a website that apparently sells artwork "stolen" from artists here on deviant art. As it turns out, this website is in reality a scam targeting artists and creative people. Please go to the journal below from PaperDreamerArt (https://www.deviantart.com/paperdreamerart) ~PaperDreamerArt (https://www.deviantart.com/paperdreamerart) for more information and some steps you can take to remove this blight from the digital domain.
Thanks, C1nderellaman :iconc1nderellaman:
Inspired through Distraction
This week I realized that I wrote nothing down.
My morning ritual usually includes managing the 2 or 3 light orange post-it notes stuck to my desk, just off center so they are always visible. They are the next 2 weeks, roughly, of urgent activities. I review and revise them daily and determine what is important and requires immediate attention. I have a compulsion to stay organized... mostly because I can remember nothing.
This week around Friday I realized I had not even looked at the post-it notes... checked off completed tasks, added new... nothing. What struck me is that I was not even aware of it. So, for roughly 4 days my mind wa
I need your vote!
Hello folks, now that summer is nearing an end, I find myself with a bit more time for things like contests. I entered the contest "Feelings" put on by Understood-Accepted (https://www.deviantart.com/understood-accepted) with my piece Blinding Heart. The contest is in the voting phase where anyone can vote on my piece. If you like the piece, please vote here >> http://understood-accepted.deviantart.com/journal/poll/5422439/
There are some very noteworthy pieces in there... take the time to read and fav a few!
The companion illustration for my poem is here >> .:Entry:. Blinding Heart

Here... but not.
Hey folks! My usual output is going to be somewhat abated for a while... the reason: summer. Family weaves in and out of the days occupying my mind with barbecue management and giving me less time for creative pursuits. I have many poem sketches in process and a few collabs also ( another with InberArt (https://www.deviantart.com/inberart) in the works :) )... next week I'm in Texas for work, then home for a week, then off to Ithaca... so, all is good here, no worries. I expect that once school kicks in again in September and things settle down I will be looking forward to getting these things out of my head and on (virtual) paper.
